So in an effort to find some work-life balance, I’ve declared Friday nights “Art night" as a little treat to myself, and a reminder to take a break. (I know it’s still technically working, but I love making art. So this is more fun than watching tv for me.) As a kid, I really wanted to be an artist when I grew up. So when it came time to apply to colleges, I applied and got accepted into a couple of art schools, but ultimately I went in another direction. (My parents said no.) But then here we are lol… I’ve spent the last year or so learning digital art and Procreate and I feel like with each piece I get a little bit better. I’m still trying to find my art style, but this character art of Koen is my favorite piece I’ve done so far and I’m really proud of it. He is part of a bigger piece of character art that will feature both Koen and Briar… but she’s a project for next Friday. This piece also got me thinking about doing a drawing like this for each one of the O’Rourke clan or Devils & Darlings characters and then putting them all together. We’ll add it to the list of plans… And of course, we have our quote from Dare Me to Stay. “Truth or dare, Little Rose?” -Koen O’Rourke
As the title of the book would suggest, Koen and Briar play a bit of a twisted game of Truth or Dare throughout the story, that you can imagine… gets veryyyy interesting.
