Hello Darlings, In case you missed it, my next book is officially on the way! A brand new book, in a brand new series, AND genre. That’s right! We’re jumping genres from dark mafia romance to romantasy! And while that may come as a surprise to a few readers, while I didn’t publish them, I actually started out writing paranormal fantasy and romantasy before I ever even thought of The Devils & Darlings, so really, it just feels like coming home. This new book will be the first in a new romantasy series featuring rival fae kingdoms, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, deadly magic and hidden agendas. 🎨 Character Art Fridays has been super fun way for me to cut loose and practice my digital art skills. Recently, I’ve been working on finishing character art for the Ace of Spades Special Edition. Above we have the now FINISHED “The Irish Devil Boys” featuring (from left to right) Alex, Aidan, Liam & Koen on their way to “fuck some shit up.” This art will be featured on one of the illustrated end pages of the Ace of Spades special edition hardback. |

And here we have my current work in progress… which is my first NSFW art piece. It’s a bold step forward, a brave leap, a completely unhinged little skip off the cliff of “maybe I shouldn’t post this…” BUT write spicy books—draw spicy art. It’s a natural progression I think. So here I am… exploring new creative directions and pushing boundaries. This piece here is the last character art piece for the Ace of Spades Hardback Edition, and will be exclusive to that book, with art prints for sale at book events, and on my website. I am still in the sketch/line art phase… I thought I was ready for line art, but then I made some changes, so once I go back and re-do my line-work, it’ll be ready for basic color and rendering! In the Trenches UpdateThe Ravenrose re-write has been going marvelously. I’ve mostly stayed on track with my word counts to finish this current draft, by the first week of May. My goal is to write 2800 words per day (M-F). Which is really high for me (I’m usually at 1500-2000 a words a day kinda gal) but the book is already fully written in 3rd person, and I’m just re-writing it into 1st, so I could probably move faster but… I have ADHD so… I did fall a little bit behind last week; due to unforseen circumstances where I had to drop everything to go rescue some AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL OAK bookshelves, but we’re not counting that okay? With previous books I’ve written, I really didn’t focus so much on daily/weekly word count tracking. Especially with Dare Me to Stay since I kept saying… “only 10k more words til done” and then continuously not being ANYWHERE CLOSE TO DONE. And well… we know that book turned out to be 150k words + BUT, this time around, tracking word counts seems to be helpful to make sure I stay on track to hit deadlines. Now that I have a publishing calendar, and release schedules, not to mention readers anxious for my next book drop… We gotta stay accountable. Yanno? So, not including the tail-end of last week, I’ve been CRUSHING my word counts. (clap please) The Ravenrose manuscript currently sits at 63K with a goal word count of 120K. So, we are just about halfway through. I’ve also begun writing Devils & Darlings 3, and the ideas are flowing, and plot holes are getting filled, and it’s all good stuff! I’m really excited and things are really going well. And of course, I’m planning out the release schedules for Ravenrose and DD3 and CAN’T WAIT TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT THEM! Until next time, xoxo, Aj
