Dear Readers,This week has been heavy and it’s been hard to push through. Like many of you, I’ve been watching the news out of Minnesota and the conversations, the grief, and the unrest that has followed—and it’s been… a lot to carry. As a mother, author and content creator who spends a lot of time online, I’ve found myself struggling more than usual with my mental health, trying to balance staying informed, marketing my books and grappling with overwhelming sadness, frustration and rage. Reading, writing, and storytelling are often treated as escapes, but they are inherently political. Books don’t exist in a vacuum, and neither do the people who write them. With that in mind, I want to be honest with you about where I stand. Not to perform. Not to debate. But as an author speaking to the community that supports my work. This week has served as a stark reminder that power without accountability can have devastating consequences. Government agencies and officials are entrusted to uphold the law, follow established policies, and protect the people they serve—not act above them. When those in authority fail to follow the rules, when lives are lost, and when families are harmed, they must be held accountable. Justice, transparency, and adherence to the law are not optional—they are the foundation of a functioning society and the protection of basic human rights. I am firmly anti-ICE and pro-immigration. No one is illegal. Seeking safety, stability, and opportunity is a fundamental human right, not a crime. Families deserve to stay together. Children deserve safety. People deserve dignity, regardless of where they were born. My work centers on empathy, survival, resilience, and the fight for what is right—and those values don’t stop at the page. “To remain silent and indifferent is the greatest sin of all.”- Elie Wiesel I will continue to write stories that center empathy, humanity, survival, and love in a world that often tries to strip those things away. I will continue to speak up when silence feels like complicity. And I will continue to choose people over systems that cause harm. This is not a political issue, it’s a moral one.
