In the Trenches UpdateThe words are flowing, babes; the story is flowing, and it’s all coming together. The draft is sitting at 96,000 words right now. The book is probably going to come in just slightly longer than book one, which was 109K for reference. There are currently seven spicy scenes in Dare Me to Stay. (Compared to book one’s three.) Hehe… 😏 Though I may cut one of them... If I do, I may make it a bonus scene later on for newsletter subscribers and street team, so look out! For the next few weeks, I’m really trying to lock in and get the rest of this writing done, so I can really push forward with editing. There are a few scenes left to write in Act II of the story. And the rest is all Act III aka THE END. The hardest part of writing a book for me so far, is wrapping it all up and ending it. (BTW I know I rushed the ending of book one a lil’ bit... I thought that by that point people would be bored with the story… I’m sorryyyyy! I won’t do it again!) That being said, I don’t usually know the ending of my books when I start writing them. For No Promises, No Lies, I had no idea how the story would end right up until the last few days of writing it. Personally, I think it made for a better book because: ** SPOILER ALERT FOR NO PROMISES NO LIES ** Aidan saves Rory so many times in their book. And by the time I reached the end, her character had already grown so much, and I really wanted to build on that. So, I ended up going forward with Rory saving Aidan at the end. A twist I think a lot of people didn’t see coming, and an ending I thought really wrapped up their story well. To be honest, I’m still not sure how book 2 ends. I know where I want them to end up in the last chapter, but I haven’t quite figured out HOW we’re getting there. Don’t worry… I’ll figure it out. Probably. xoxo -Aj
